Folk Art Wood Book
Ok so I’m going to totally admit defeat on this one. It’s a carved wood book that as far as I can tell says, “Read and Smile, Darn You, Smile, Horace”. So Smile, Darn You, Smile was an early cartoon and accompanying song. Sure makes sense. The Read and the Horace makes me think this is a pure folk art piece, some sort of commentary on Horace that is above me perhaps. It’s solid and well carved and I love it. Also the child in me absolutely respects the compositional choices that result in the spine reading, “And You Ho”. Absolutely stellar work, Horace. 69/10.
