Bridge Cable Cross Section

$120.00

What a chunkster. Chunk of cable. Not the Marvel character, but probably just as cool and heavy and unbeatable. This is one of those weird items that I wish I could own more of but I’m not even really sure why it’s on the open market. This is likely a cross section of a bridge cable or something to that effect. What a perfect combination of art and science. Like this thing is purely functional, there is absolutely no reason for it to look cool. Weirdo rocks show the crazy beauty of nature. Fordite shows us how industrial runoff can be magical. This thing to me is pure physics. It is just the concentration of a physical display of Ultimate Tensile Strength. So boring. So interesting. I don’t know, I don’t really understand it, but some nerd absolutely went off on the Pascals of this bad boy. Xhibit sees this thing and is like, I heard you hated plastic deformation so we took some ductile materials and wrapped them in other, stronger, ductile materials. Also there’s a TV in the back, sick. But for real, I’ve always been obsessed with these and wished they were easier to acquire. I’ve owned a few that were clearly gifts to execs at whatever giant contracting firm built said bridge as they were attached to presentation plaques. This one is framed in brass which suggests that it was made to keep after serving its role? So maybe a replaced cable was chopped up? I don’t know or care and neither should you, dear reader. Just nerd out with me, and let the strength of a god damn bridge hold down your mail or whatever banal service this beast of an object will do for you in its next life.
